“The One Movement for Music Festival has provided an invaluable platform to raise the international awareness of new bands like Art vs Science, and start a dialogue in front of serious players in the international music industry. Real outcomes have been achieved in the 24 hours since the Festival concluded – I am now planning to head to the UK to meet with some of the world’s biggest agents and labels in November, and we have been invited to perform in LA next year”
Claire Collins
Artist Management, Art Vs Science
"One Movement definitely gave the band access to music industry personalities we would normally have difficulty crossing paths with. We spoke with radio producers, labels, managers, bookers, promoters and others. Some of these were totally new contacts, and in other cases we were able to catch up with previous contacts and increase the possibility of creating business relationships with them."

“As a result of the trip to Australia, we were able to garner in-studio on-air interviews with DJs from Nova Radio Perth and Nova Radio Sydney. We released Meiko's album in Australia while there for the conference, and in its first week on sale it became the #1 iTunes Folk Album in Australia. We've also been invited back for additional touring opportunities when schedules permit”.
CONFIRMED OUTCOMES: Festival of the Sun timeslot (Port Macquarie), St Kilda Festival timeslot, National airplay, National support tour.

From a Management point of view, One MOcvement was brilliant.... really well run, well looked after good clean festival with really helpful staff and stage crew. Lot's of outcomes and a great festival”!

“My experience from One Movement was great. Being from the United States and traveling to Australia for the first time there was a lot of work and planning that went into the trip. Also traveling with 5 musicians across several continents posed many challenges. Despite all of this, the people I dealt with at One Movement helped me with everything from rooms, to renting instruments, to food accomodations. They were a huge help with preparing us for what we'd need to bring and what we could expect. We were impressed how everyone treated us when we got to the event”.
Micah Manus
Manager, The Speedbumps
“This was the band's 3rd visit to Australia and by far the most pleasant one. The organizers were efficient and we were well taken care of at the event. While we were there, the band (Electrico) managed to catch some great acts and fringe event that featured very inspiring musicians. This being the first of One Movement Music Festival, I think they did a great job putting things together like pros."
Marcia Tan
Manager, Electrico
“Showcasing to top international industry figures has seen some very exciting developments for All Mankind, on a global scale. We are in discussions with record labels in the US & UK about an upcoming release. The exposure we got from One Movement was key to this development in our careers. It was truly a pleasure to learn and grow from the shows & seminars as we rubbed shoulders with other artists, the fans, and the industry."

“Rahul, One Buck Short, “One Movement was one of the best experiences One Buck Short has had the pleasure to be apart of. We met so many bands who have now become friends, got introduced to key industry players and most importantly created a market for our band in Australia, we can’t wait to go back!”

“As for outcomes it was really more about exposure for us. We now have access to the Perth market which we didnt previously, so we will be touring there shortly in response to a recognised audience demand”.

“The networking component was great! Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to attend the workshops due to touring commitments, however we connected with some influential people over drinks and look forward to attending a few of the conference sessions this year.
One Movement provides a great opportunity for independent artists like us to connect with the wider international music industry. As a result of our festival showcase, we're in the midst of setting up European and Asian tour dates. Highly recommended”.
CONFIRMED OUTCOMES: International touring opportunities in Europe and Asia.

"Performing at One Movement as part of the fringe was a much greater opportunity than I’d realised at the time; though I’d done my best to invite as many relevant industry contacts as possible to my fringe showcase, I was unprepared for when several actually turned up. People were definitely there with an eye to do business and my showcase venue (Wolf Lane) was an absolute pleasure to perform in. Because of the festival feel to the event, the showcases don’t feel as stale as showcases at similar conferences like Fuse or Big Sound where I’d showcased a month before. Industry are actually able to get a feel for what acts are like in front of a crowd who are there to have fun.
Oddly enough for a showcase festival, my show at One Movement Fringe last year was probably one of the most fun gigs I’ve ever had. Where I’ve found a lot of showcase gigs have a stale air of industry about them, the festival component of One Movement sets it apart. Potential industry contacts get a chance to see acts in their natural environment. More importantly, the event opened my eyes to opportunities in Asia I would have otherwise missed and acts I would have never had the chance to see. I am marking this years’ event in my diary with a big black texta and a lot of anticipation”.
CONFIRMED OUTCOMES: National media sponsorship for my album tour through Street Press Australia, publicity representation with Fuck Yeah Media.

"One Movement is one of the best music conferences in the country. I was astounded at how well it was organised and setup for the bands and the industry attendees alike. The content was comprehensive and the networking opportunities aplenty. I really hope I have the chance to return in 2010."
Maggie Collins
Manager, The John Steel Singers
“In a nutshell, it was the best attended, organsied and executed music conference/festival I have ever been to! All the right people were there in one room to network and do business in the best environment I have witnessed. The scheduling was done with military precision, removing the guesswork and heartache normally associated with these functions.
Although it was huge financial struggle for us to take 2 acts out there (we had been asked to take 3, but just couldn’t afford it) it is already proving to have been worth that struggle with a sponsorship deal from Tiger Beer, publishing, licensing and a tour next March. In terms of “machismo” for want of a better word... yup no one had heard of it, but having been to SXSW and the like... for real business, One Movement was a dream to be part of.
With India & China emerging at present and in full representation at this Pacific/Asian basin expo; I really think this event should be on next year’s radar”.

“It was great to have Infusion part of the inaugural One Movement Festival. I found the event to be exceptionally organised and professional espeically for its first year. I was delighted that Infusion were chosen to be part of what has the potential to grow trade relationships particularly in the Asia- Pacific region. Given the band tour Asia regularly it was initeresting to meet with key players in these regions to discuss how music can be disseminated and marketed to these growing markets. I found the event informative and look forward to future developments”.

“This is definitely an amazing opportunity for artists and our career. You can get to play at the big stage, at the festival in Australia, and besides, many music industry VIP from over the world will come and see your show. It’s not every day that you can get to know these people and connect with them”.

Thank you SO much for letting me be a part of such a great event with such wonderful talent! The Asia Pacific market is rife with music that people in the States rarely get to hear and I hope to change that with some placements if possible. One Movement MUSEXPO Asia Pacific was so well-run; you would have never known it was the first year. I can’t say enough great things about the entire event

The inaugural One Movement for Music Festival had proven to be almost 100% what we as South Africans were looking for to start the process of normalization of the live music market between the two countries. For years now it has been felt that there has been opportunities on both sides of the ocean for artists and music business people but an easy one stop event focusing on these territories did not exist. One Movement filled that gap. It was probably two or three of the most fruitful days of music relationships of my life. We will definitely be back and hopefully with a much bigger contingent of people

I feel I was present at an historic event. Same way I felt when I went by instinct only to the very first MIDEM back in 1966 or 67 right after Richard Gottehrer and I started Sire Records. I know that I am echoing what most other people thought. One Movement was totally groundbreaking
Seymour Stein
Chairman, Sire Records, USA
I was most impressed with the delegates I met and saw speak. I also met promoters from South Africa, India, Singapore and China. Hopefully these encounters will contribute to the future of my business. I was also impressed with the quality of the performers and the quality of their business associates, i.e. managers.

“One Movement was an impressive event last year. I got the chance of seeing a lot of international acts I would never have been exposed to, as well as a few Australian bands that had always eluded me. It was exciting to talk shop with some overseas contacts that would never have normally have crossed my path. As an Australian music fan, it was nice to watch excitement building for local acts like Hilltop Hoods, Art vs. Science and Blue King Brown amongst the overseas contingent. I made some contacts in India – where Australian acts seem welcome but the first steps need to be taken to get the bands to tour there and establish some business links. I also first heard about Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros from Richard Moffat at a One Movement breakfast. It turned out to be a pretty decent tip”.

“One Movement was a great experience for both myself and my artists and the staff and crews for the event were fantastic. Asia needs a musical bridge to the west such as One Movement and we hope that it is here for many years to come. We are currently talking to a Canadian promoter re touring Biuret in Canada in the next 12 months once we have finished recording a new English album and they are already booked to headline in Vietnam in March”.

“My old friend Michael Chugg insisted that I take my artist Joe Echo to Perth to play the One Movement Festival 2009 and I'm so glad that I took his advice. He was so right, we not only had a brilliant time but more importantly we met so many interesting, friendly and useful industry contacts both old and new and lots of other excellent international and Australian artists. Such a cool line-up of artists and delegates. One Movement has exceeded all our expectations. We’ve signed a publishing deal for Joe Echo with Mushroom Music Publishing and next week will be announcing the new worldwide major live agent who has agreed yesterday to take Joe on. We also expect to sign to one of the labels that we’ve been talking to very soon. The organization has been outstanding and we hope we’ll be invited back to the Festival next year”.

“Firstly, myself, Edrei and Briese all thought that One Movement was bloody fantastic; particularly considering it was the first year. Hats off to you all for producing such a great event! With Sarah Blasko we signed a record deal with Dramatico records for UK / Europe and we’re still in discussions with Oppikoppi for Kate Miller-Heidke re touring in South Africa. Not only was the event a huge success for its speakers and artists, delegates too came away with one in a lifetime opportunities other outcomes. We’re also in discussions with Colleen Ironside re getting Paul Kelly to SE Asia”

“The experience and opportunity to network with delegates from the industry is invaluable. The speaker program was informative and well attended and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders delegates such as the Pigram its was fantastic chance to catch up and discuss strategy and the way forward for our sector. There was also the opportunity of being able to divide the session we attended and meeting up later to debrief. One Movement is about the unexpected, musicians from all genres and lands, through their music they took us all on a journey along new footprints of our nearest neighbours from India Asia and the Pacific”.
